Why do I support luckydogrescueeg? 

I think people who had or have dogs might understand why I support shelters in Egypt who take care of partly very traumatised streetdogs and provide for them a good live away from the dangerous streets in Egypt.

I grew up with a dog - an amazing red Cocker Spaniel. I felt so close to him that when asked if I have siblings I said yes and meant my dog called Baffie.  After 16 years I had to say good bye to this beautiful soul. 

For many years I did not had a dog on my own but voluntiered to take care of friends dogs when they wanted to go on a holiday. 

One day I had the urge to bring a dog back in the house for good and at the shelter I fell in love with a skinny Doberman, left alone by his former owners. They did not even had the decency to bring the dog to the shelter, not they left him tight on a tree in the wild. So good that he was found! We had called him Gismo, because he could move his ears from flat to up and this made him look like a Gremlin. He was such a lovely lap dog and so important to me. He stayed in his new family for 10 years and then I had to say good bye.

Many years later, we were walking on the streets of Cairo and we got followed by a street dog. We gave her a home finally and called her Pipa. She is still with us and is the softest, people smart, cuddliest dog I had ever experienced. And when you see how the dogs - who were not that lucky to find a forever home - have to live on the streets does break my heart. I want to help these dogs, better their lives, protect them from poisoning initiatives etc. and give a bit of a thank you back as dogs were and are such a prominent part of my life.
